Creep by Radiohead – I first heard this song on American Idol. I cannot remember who sang it, but I still remember the feeling I got when I heard it for the first time. Brian Justin Crum does a MIND BLOWING performance of this song on America’s Got Talent (at 1:28 the hairs on the back of my neck stand up).
Thrash Unreal by Against Me! – When I was 19 (and still full of teenage angst) I was on Youtube listening to someone’s playlist and this song came up. I then went on to listen to it every single day for a month (no word of lie folks). This song led me to Against Me!’s album New Wave (listen to Borne on the Fm Waves of the Heart if you have a chance).
Earned It by The Weeknd – In my opinion the only sexy thing about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie was the soundtrack. Canadian artist, The Weeknd, had me sweating more than the movie. Also, as a side note, Annie Lennox (from the Eurthymics) is absolutely amazing on the cover track “I Put a Spell On You“.
Redemption Song by Bob Marley – The line “emancipate yourself from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds” is so powerful.
Your Body by Cat Dealers – This song was and still is my weekend song. My friend Gaby would come down to Niagara Falls from Mississauga and she’d greet me at the door with this club banger. This remix samples the popular Tom Novy song called “Your Body“.
Lover, You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley – The combination of the song’s unique opening and Jeff’s soft voice just caresses your soul with melancholy.
